The 39th Kadayawan Festival promises to be a sensory delight, serving as a perfect opportunity for tourists and content creators to immerse themselves in the vibrant local culture during this "King of Festivals" in Davao City, proudly supported by PLDT Home.

Running from August 7 to 18, the Kadayawan Festival invites both local and international guests to experience the region's stunning array of colors, sounds, and flavors. The festival celebrates the 11 indigenous tribes of Davao, including Bagobo-Tagabawa, Sama, Ata, Tausug, Bagobo, Iranun, Kagan, Maranao, Matigsalug, Obu Manuvu, and Maguindanaon, reflecting a contemporary urban adaptation of their traditional harvest celebration.

As a key partner of this year's festival, PLDT Home is set to host a variety of exciting events, including the much-anticipated Hiyas ng Kadayawan beauty pageant.

On August 16, PLDT Home will crown Jane Rose Miones, representing the Bagobo-Plata tribe, as "Hiyas ng PLDT" during the Hiyas ng Kadayawan pageant. This unique competition seeks to highlight the modern Davaoeña who exemplifies the traits of an ideal role model. Young, accomplished women from Davao’s 11 communities will compete for the title, showcasing their tribal heritage. The talent segment includes traditional performances, such as the vibrant singkil dance from the Maranao people.

Kadayawan: A Celebration of Culture

With an expected attendance of around 250,000 tourists this year, the Kadayawan Festival is a jubilant tribute to Davao's rich cultural tapestry. Street dancers adorned in colorful, intricately woven garments, such as T'nalak and Inaul, fill the streets with their rhythmic movements during the Indak-Indak sa Kadalan street dancing competition, marking the culmination of Davaoeños' thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest and celebrating the region's vibrant culture. The iconic malong further enhances the festive atmosphere.

Davao's culinary landscape is equally enticing, offering a rich tapestry of flavors influenced by indigenous, Malay, and Spanish traditions. From the unique durian to the beloved pomelo, the region is blessed with a wealth of fresh produce. Seafood lovers can enjoy grilled specialties like inihaw na panga, while the adventurous can try exotic dishes such as crocodile sisig. Coffee aficionados will also appreciate the distinctive flavors of beans grown in Mount Apo.
